Nursing application deadline moved up to January 31
The application deadline for Davenport University’s Bachelor in Nursing Pre-licensure program has been moved up to January 31 from the traditional late May date. Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications and information now!
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, health care ranks number two among all industries projected for growth. Fourteen of the 20 fastest-growing occupations are related to health care.
New students must apply to the university first
New students first must be accepted into Davenport University before applying to the nursing program. All paperwork – university acceptance and Nursing Division application – must be complete by January 31.

Details about DU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The BSN-PL program is designed for high school graduates, students who have completed general education requirements in Health Studies, as well as students who possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional nurse. Davenport University also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing-RN completion program for already licensed nurses who wish to advance their education and career opportunities. This program is offered online only and students are admitted throughout the year.
The purpose of the bachelor’s degree nursing program at Davenport University is to prepare the graduate with the skill and knowledge necessary to function in the role of the professional nurse through the use of critical thinking, advanced assessment skills, communication, collaborating practices, applied research, self-directed learning, leadership and management skills, systems thinking, and professional development.
This program prepares graduates for nursing practice of patients and their support systems across the continuum of care and in communities. Program seats for the Bachelor of Science Pre-licensure are limited and entry is competitive. Students are admitted to the program based on their cumulative GPA (ACT score for high school graduate applicants), letters of professional recommendation, and a personal essay. Students who meet admissions criteria will be provisionally admitted to the program pending completion of the Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Drug Screen (DS) components of HLTH 101 (to be completed during the first semester of study).
