Apply to the Nursing Program

Philosophy: Mabel Engle Program of Nursing

Nursing is both a science and an art. For that reason, professional nursing practice here at Davenport University is supported and defined by Sister Callista L. Roy's Adaptation Model, as well as though applied sciences and the humanities.

Within the framework of Roy's Adaptation Nursing Theory, we define ‘health' and ‘person' as two integral components of our educational focus. The nursing process provides a framework for critical thinking skills and is the primary problem-solving method used in the curriculum to educate students in evidence-based holistic nursing practice.

By gaining understanding of basic human needs, the student nurse learns to promote wellness, prevent illness and restore health in all dimensions of life, including physical, intellectual, emotional, sociocultural and spiritual. Nursing care also facilitates healthy coping patterns for those near the end of life.

Davenport offers four programs in the Mabel Engle Program of Nursing.

For these programs, additional forms must be submitted along with your application. We've provided an Admissions Checklist for each nursing program below, as well as the required Essay and Letters of Recommendation forms, plus a link to Davenport's online application.

All official transcripts must be sent from the originating schools directly to:
