Master of Public Health
Davenport University’s Master of Public Health degree prepares you to lead both the public and private health sectors. Your Master’s degree gives you a competitive edge over other health professionals for leadership positions in health promotion and disease prevention.
Admission Requirements
The Master of Public Health (MPH) program is designed for students who possess an undergraduate degree in health or science. Applicants must meet additional admission standards for entry into this program. Applicants from outside these fields may be admitted on a contingent basis, and degrees will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Individuals are encouraged to have at least one college level biology or chemistry course with a laboratory component. Admissions to the 43-semester hour MPH degree program will be on a rolling basis.
Admissions Criteria
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Completions of statistics, biostatistics and health research methods are all prerequisite courses.
- A cumulative 3.0 or better on a 4.0 grading scale from a prior undergraduate or graduate program. (Transcripts required)
- Two letters of professional recommendation. (Download the form)
- GRE within the last five years (waived for individuals with a Master’s or doctoral degree or who are currently in an accredited medical, veterinary, or law school).
- A personal essay (pdf) reflecting on professional goals.
- TOEFL score for individuals whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate instruction was not in English; a score of at least 250 by computerized testing, 600 for paper and pencil, 100 by internet is required to demonstrate English speaking proficiency.
