Bachelor of Science - 123 credits
This program is designed for high school graduates, students who have completed general education requirements in Health Studies, as well as students who possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional nurse. The purpose of the bachelor’s degree nursing program at Davenport University is to prepare the graduate with the skill and knowledge necessary to function in the role of the professional nurse through the use of critical thinking, advanced assessment skills, communication, collaborating practices, applied research, self-directed learning, leadership and management skills, systems thinking, and professional development. This program prepares graduates for nursing practice of patients and their support systems across the continuum of care and in communities.
Program seats are limited and entry is competitive. Students are admitted to the program based on their cumulative GPA (ACT score for high school graduate applicants), letters of professional recommendation, and a personal essay. Students who meet admissions criteria will be provisionally admitted to the program pending completion of the Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Drug Screen (DS) components of HLTH 101 (to be completed during the first semester of study).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Pre-Licensure
Davenport University's BSN - Pre-Licensure program is designed for those who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional nurse, including high school graduates, students who have completed general education requirements in Health Studies and those with a bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited institution.
The bachelor's degree nursing program at Davenport University provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function in the role of professional nurse, including:

Admission Requirements

Admissions Track 1: High School Graduates
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative high school GPA
- Minimum ACT score of 23
- Three letters of professional recommendation (Dowload pdf)
- Personal essay expressing the reasons for entering the nursing program and professional goals upon graduation (Download essay form pdf)
- Student must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA prior to entering first nursing course (NURS 101)

Transfer Credit (internal or external)
Equivalency requirements for transfer science courses:
- Lab component included
- Completed within the last five years
- Earned grade of C (2.0) or better
Transfer students may take any remaining general education requirements, not fulfilled by transfer credit, concurrent with the nursing program courses. |
