Applying for financial aid

Step 1 - Submit FAFSA

  • Please file 2007-2008 FAFSA
  • Request your PIN (if you don’t yet have one) so you can e-sign your FAFSA – there is a “PIN site” link at the FAFSA website.
  • School code for Davenport is 002249 – Please make this your #1 school choice as you complete the FAFSA.

Step 2 - Submit Loan Entrance Interview and e-MPN

  • Go to the Student Loan page on the Davenport University website.
  • Click on Apply for a Stafford Loan and read the instructions carefully.
  • Click on Sallie Mae/Davenport University "Preferred Stafford Loan Lender List" page (http://www.customschool.com/davenport/lenderlist/stafford.html) to get started.
  • Select your lender by clicking “Apply Now.”
  • Login to Open Net (or register as a new user).
  • Complete the Loan Entrance counseling.
  • Complete the Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note online.

Step 3 - Additional documentation

  • You may be asked to submit additional paperwork/forms to complete your financial aid file. All forms are located here.

Financial aid refunds

Davenport University will process and certify your maximum eligibility for the Stafford Loan each semester.

  • For graduate students, the federal maximum for the Stafford Loan (subsidized and unsubsidized combined) is $20,500 per loan period (30 weeks) or $10,250 per semester. Your maximum eligibility at Davenport is likely to fall in the $7,000 - $10,250 range per semester.
  • For undergraduate students, the federal maximum for the Stafford Loan (subsidized and unsubsidized combined) is $10,500 per loan period (30 weeks) or $5,250 per semester. Your maximum eligibility at Davenport is likely to meet the federal maximum per semester.

In your first semester with Davenport, your loan disbursement will arrive at least 30 days into the semester. In subsequent semesters, your loan disbursement should arrive about 2 weeks into the semester. Note: If you are only taking a course in Session 2 of a given semester, your disbursement will be scheduled for arrival about two weeks after the start of that session.

  • After your tuition costs and registration fee (as well as any book costs from a voucher) are deducted from your loan funds, all remaining funds will be refunded back to you each semester.
  • As a benefit of the partnership program, you may elect to have your refund deposited directly into a personal account (U.S. only). This process may take up to one week.
  • If you would prefer to have a refund check mailed to you, please allow 10-14 days for the university to process your refund and mail out a check.
