Student Complaint Process:
Students residing in one of the above mentioned states that wish to make a complaint may do so through the DU complaint process
If an issue or complaint is not resolved at the institutional level, a student may choose to contact the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
For academic programs leading to licensure:
Participation in SARA has no effect on state professional licensing requirements. At this time, Davenport University has made a determination that its curriculum meets the state education requirements for licensure or certification outside the State of Michigan for certain programs noted below. The student should contact the appropriate licensing agency or Board in their state of residency prior to beginning a course of study, to understand the requirements as it applies to their specific situation. To assist with which agency to contact students can refer here: https://nc-sara.org/professional-licensure-directory and select Professional Licensure Directory.
Programs:
Master of Science in Occupational Therapy: Davenport’s occupational therapy degree program in Michigan maintains the highest accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
NC-SARA: Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education Occupational therapy is regulated in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam. In order to be eligible to sit for the NBCOT certification examination, one must graduate from an ACOTE-accredited program.
Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling: Davenport's coursework and learning outcomes align with Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) standards which meet the State of Michigan licensing requirements.
National Certification and State Licensure: NBCC’s examinations are used in national certification and state licensure applications. All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam require one or more of NBCC’s examinations for licensure. Each examination is the product of a painstaking research and development process, and undergoes regular review and revision by content experts.
Urban Education Graduate Certificate: Alternative Route to Teacher Certification: If you have a bachelor’s degree and have passed the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification in your discipline area, you’ll also receive an interim teaching certificate (along with this education graduate certificate) that allows you to teach in Michigan schools while you fulfill credential requirements.
NC-SARA - National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification: Each jurisdiction approves and regularly reviews educator preparation programs within its borders. Such "approved programs” represent preparation programs that are accepted by the jurisdiction of origin to credential new educators, and many jurisdictions use approved programs as a major factor in granting a credential to those applying from "out of state.”
