Information Security and Assurance Center (ISaAC)

The Committee on National Security Systems in conjunction with the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) jointly announced the designation of Davenport University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE/CD) through the year 2026. 

The ISaAC Charter

Davenport University and the College of Technology are committed to improving the practice of protecting information.  The Information Security and Assurance Center is charged with facilitating this process.

The center will seek to establish partnerships, support information security research, assist development and sharing of resources and perform the following:

  • The university will seek to establish and foster partnerships with industry, educational institutions, and professional organizations.
  • The university will support research efforts in information security and assurance.
  • The university will use various methods to develop and distribute resources to facilitate improved information security.

The Information Security and Assurance Center (ISaAC) Charter has been approved and endorsed by Dr. Gilda Gely, Executive Vice President for Academics and Provost.  Through ISaAC, Davenport University obtained Designation as a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in 2011.  CAEs are academic institutions and programs that have undergone an in-depth assessment and have met the rigorous requirements to be designated a Center of Academic Excellence.  The BS Cyber Defense program at Davenport University has undergone this review at Davenport University as the designated Program of Study (PoS). Center of Academic Excellence

On April 25, 2011 Davenport University was notified of its designation as a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) for its Information Assurance courseware. Davenport's designation is valid through the year 2026. CAEs are designated by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAE/IAE) and are jointly sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The HLC is nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Davenport University, an independent, nonprofit institution, is chartered by the State of Michigan and is empowered to grant degrees; it is also certified by the State Approval Agency of the Department of Education. Davenport University is recognized for veterans’ training under the G.I. Bill for Veterans Educational Assistance. The University is approved by the United States Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service as an institution of higher education for training foreign students. The University is approved by agencies of the state and federal governments for many programs including Rehabilitation, Work Incentive, etc. Accreditation credentials are available for review from University officials upon request.

Department of Defense - Cyber Service Academy (CSA)

Davenport University, in cooperation with the Department of Defense, offers the Cyber Service Academy (CSA). This scholarship is for undergraduate Juniors and Seniors and graduate students. Funding amounts to $29,000 for undergraduate and $34,000 for graduate students. 

Davenport University is recognized as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
