Save lives by providing important cancer data

Post-Associate Cancer Tumor Registry Certificate (36 credits)

Get ready to pursue a career of impact with Davenport University’s post-associate cancer tumor registry certificate. With this credential, you’ll be prepared to become a cancer registrar — a role that enables you to capture the complete history, diagnosis, treatment and health status of cancer patients throughout the United States. This data provides essential information to researchers, health care providers and public health officials to better monitor and advance cancer treatments, conduct research, and improve cancer prevention and screening programs.

Davenport’s post-associate cancer tumor registry certificate is the only one of its kind in Michigan and is targeted toward students with an associate degree. This specialized program, which can be completed in as little as three semesters, combines information technology and business to prepare individuals for the Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) — formerly Cancer Tumor Registrar (CTR) — credential. For students who don't transfer in the foundation/prerequisite courses, the program can still be completed in just five semesters.

While you can complete the post-associate cancer tumor registry entirely online, you’ll still be required to complete an in-person practicum — an opportunity that will give you hands-on experience in the field.

National Cancer Registrars Association

The post-associate cancer tumor registry certificate is accredited by the National Cancer Registrars Association and its Formal Education Committee. Once a student has completed the Cancer Tumor Registry Post-Associate certificate, they meet all requirements to apply for the National Cancer Registrars Association Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) exam for the ODS credential — formerly Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR©️) exam for the CTR©️ credential.
